Cancer has a new enemy, successful entrepreneur Eric Lefkofsky. Most inventions are birthed because someone cares enough to seek a solution to a problem, to not only help themselves but also help others who may encounter the same obstacle in their life’s journey. Eric’s wife Liz was diagonosed and treated for breast cancer a few years ago and that’s when Eric discovered a missing link in treating future cancer patients and more information click here.
Eric graduated from Southfield-Lathrup High Schoool in 1987. He then proceeded to graduate with honors from the University of Michigan in 1991 and receiving his Juris doctor in 1993 from the University of Michigan Law School. Eric is no stranger to hard work. His first job was selling carpets while at the University of Michigan. Shortly after that him and his college friend borrowed money from friends and relatives to start and apparel company. He has since then co-founded many successful billion dollar companies such as InnerWorkings, Echo Global Logistics and Groupon.
Eric has always given back in the form of substantial contributions and sharing his knowledge. In 2006 him and his wife Liz formed a charitable trust called the Lefkofsky Foundation with the purpose of supporting charitable scientific research, educational organizations and other causes worldwide. He is also on the board of directors for many organizations, such as Childrens Memorial Hospital and The museum of Science and Industry. With the wealth of knowledge and experience Eric has amassed he is now an adjunct professor at the Unversity of Chicago teaching a course on entrepreneuship and building technology based businesses. His book Accelerated Disruption focuses on how technology affects businesses. His latest business launch is Tempus an idea that came about after his wife was diagnosed with Cancer.
After going to over 60 cancer clinics Eric realized cancer data is not as organized and available as it should be in order to stream line treatments.
Tempus objective is to gather clinical data such as who is the patient, what type of cancer and what type of medication is this person on and make it available to treatment facilities. Tempus also has a lab that will be used to perform gene sequencing tests. DNA profiles will be stored in a software to allow doctors to compare their patients’ DNA to others and learn more about Eric.
Tempus is going to be a game changer for the treatment of cancer. Eric Lefkofsky’s bright mind and ability to seek solutions to a worldwide disease that has affected so many of us in so many ways comes at the right time. Thanks to Eric and his latest idea we will be able to collect data and narrow a course of treatment and give patients a better chance at fighting and surviving cancer and Eric’s lacrosse camp.
