It was during his final year when he and his friends could not find not even a single healthy place where they would dine. Nathaniel Ru and his friends had wondered all along tavern through the M Street in the middle of the downtown area.
It never took long before they started a restaurant that has in the current days grown to the 21 store farm and a table style restaurant chain sweet green. Before this, they had an engagement at tavern space. The landlord in this area was still the owner of the apartment in the area that they were living.
They took the opportunity to call the landlord with their main aim having an appointment with him. All these details were given out by Nathaniel through an interview where he says that through this first appointment, the landlord saw a spark in them despite being in their last semester at Georgetown. The landlord was grateful to the three brilliant minds, asked them to go comeback with a real plan and some bakers and an architect for their business.
It took them only three weeks before they found the bakers. They have since then been grateful to the landlord as they say he is the one who has given their first restaurant experience a concept they tried and succeeded.
It is through this encounters that they were able to start their restaurant that they named Sweetgreen. The company in the current date has stores in most of the major cities in Northeast. From their experience of the bad food that was prepared in the restaurants back in college, they decided to maintain their foods healthily and fresh. They also decided to always get their products from local purveyors and farmers a relationship that since been the primary factor in their success.
Through his contributions at Sweetgreen, Nathaniel has been named by Forbes as one of the 30 Under 30 leaders to watch in the wine and food industry.
He has always been thankful for the role played by his two other friends Jonathan Neman and Nicolas Jamme as it is through their contributions that they have made it to their current situation. The trio has since then been named as individuals who have lived up to their ambitions.

It happened to them while on Georgetown campus. It sounded fun to them having no good guesthouse to get better services in that town. Later Nathaniel Ru came up with the idea of building a clean hotel where people could get better services.
Six years later they began an eatery on the street. The eatery flourished, and within a span of time, it grew to a restaurant. Ru and his friends realized that the landlord of the building they lived was the landlord of the space where they located their business. They decided to engage her in conversation to allow them to do their business there.
Though the landlord at first was unwilling, they managed to convince her and at long last she accepted. The landlord requested them to come with an architect and some business backers. They were also to go with a plan of how the business will be. It took them three and half weeks to get the architects and backers. The landlord was kind enough and decide to assist the college seniors who had no experience of how to set a restaurant.
Ru and his friends decided to use the chance they were given well and come to a beautiful restaurant. The name of the restaurant which was in the business plan was sweetgreen. The restaurant expanded, and it had more than 40 restaurant locations. Nathaniel Ru worked closely with Jonathan Neman and Nicolas Jamme.
The three were students at Georgetown campus. Their parents were entrepreneurs in business. Coming from a home of entrepreneurs motivated them greatly and encouraged them also venture into business.
Lack of healthy eating options on the campus frustrated Ru and his friends making them build a restaurant where people could get healthy eating options. Ru disclosed that the chief challenge faced was to mobilize the team around him to fill essential roles.
Ru says that the vision for sweetgreen restaurant is to satisfy the customer needs. Sweet green also in collaboration with artist and producers prepare an annual celebration of good food and music.
OSI Group, LLC has made several achievements in the meat processing industry which can partly be owed to its current CEO and Chairman Sheldon Lavin as most are seen under his leadership. Sheldon Lavin is also affiliated with Oakland Foods LLC, OSI International Foods Ltd, and OSI Industries LLC. Sheldon Lavin joined the group when it was known by the name Otto & Sons after it had been founded by Otto Kolschowsky in 1909. He served in the company as a financial manager. At the time when the firm had a deal with McDonald’s restaurants as a meat supplier, Sheldon secured a contract with Otto & Sons when it had insufficient funds.
The bank requested Lavin to become a business partner in the company, but he declined and remained a financial consultant for the company. In 1975, Sheldon oversaw the expansion of the company and got involved with it continued until he became a partner alongside the two sons when their father retired. The company therefore changed from the name Otto & Sons to become OSI Group, LLC. Sheldon received the first half of the ownership of the company when one of the two brothers sold his interest. Later, Sheldon received full ownership when the second brother retired.
Lavin planned several joint ventures such as the one with Pickstock in the United Kingdom to allow his company to distribute beef throughout Europe. OSI Group has also acquired the Tyson production plant under his leadership which has provided an abundant amount of storage covering about 200,000 square feet. OSI Group LLC continues its expansion and is currently in seventeen countries and with more than seventy facilities. It also produces from meat products to some sauces, vegetable and baked goods. The company now has over 20,000 employees all around the world. Sheldon shares that the company’s success is due to the knowledge that each employee adds to the company.
Lavin maintains great levels of responsibility and discipline to run such an organization. In a recent interview, Sheldon mentioned that OSI Group is all about a family culture where everyone’s opinion is listened to and taken into consideration. He is also passionate about giving back to the society thus his involvement with Ronald McDonald House Charities among other charity organizations. At the age of eighty-five, Sheldon still focuses on the continued expansion of his company across the world. Sheldon has also received several awards such as World’s Visionary Prize from the Vision World Academy of India for his great innovations.
